a room refresher…
I’m a big fan of rearranging. I do it a lot. Maybe too much. Change is good and sometimes some simple changes can transform a room. Nothing new needs to be purchased. Simply look around your home and use what you already have. I used this approach yesterday on my living room. I’ve been wanting to change is around for a while now but didn’t have too many options. You’ve already seen this area of the living room…
…and this area…
…and this one as well.
But I haven’t show you this side and with good reason.
The two pieces of furniture you see are the tv armoire, which I want gone yesterday, and “the desk.” The desk is for all the bills, mail, etc. It is a lot of wood in one corner and just too busy for me. It is also what you see when you first walk in the front door. In my opinion it is not the best introduction to my home. It is all business and not very welcoming.
Something upholstered would be a much better fit for that corner so all I did was switch this chair…
…with the desk. The chair was in a nice spot facing the television but wasn’t facing the sofa, making conversation difficult. By switching it with the desk it is now facing the sofa and is the first thing you see when you step into the foyer.
Ahhhhh, much better. I plan on some additions to warm that corner up even more but a spare table and the night side lamps from the master bedroom do the trick for now. My bedroom is not as visible as the living room so I’ll make do with some older lamps up there for now.
The desk is not as visible in it’s new corner. It also doesn’t compete with the dark wood of the tv armoire. I’m hoping to move this desk downstairs to the office/guest bedroom in the near future. I’m still working on convincing the hubby that it’s a good idea.
For now, the simple switch of a chair and a desk made a big difference in this room. Give it a try, you’ll feel like you have a whole new room!
