everyone needs a place to read…
I love my new corner with my new chair. As the light of day gets less and less I realized it needed something. Let me explain.
This chair has become the reading chair. As homework and lego’s are worked on around me I can be found there. My daughter curled up on the chair with a new book over the weekend. My son’s new Highlights magazine came in yesterday and this is where all the Hidden Pictures were found. It is a favorite with everyone.
My friends at Lamps Plus had sent me a lamp a while back and I wanted to find just the right spot for it. Somewhere visible but safe since people run and play hard in this house. I knew I needed more light in my living room but until my little reading corner was created I didn’t know how much.
My new little vignette, lamp and all, has added a “fun” storage option for the living room. I had found this table at a yard sale two years ago. There is a can of spray paint in my garage that I had purchased around the same time with plans to paint this. Seeing it now, with its’ warm wood tones and spindled legs, I’ve changed my mind. I don’t think the “paint your furniture” craze is over, but it has slowed down a bit here.
This lamp itself was a hit right away. The clear glass base means the lamp is not overpowering this corner. It has a simple design but it works so well. I can even see myself filling it up from time to time. Christmas ornaments during the Holidays for example. My 7 year old son took one look at it and told me it was great. He then proceeded to explain that we could fill it with water and add a fish. Plan B was to buy a remote control car, put it inside the hollow glass base and drive it around. Ummm, no, but love the creativity!
