mohawk review and giveaway…

When I completed my daughter’s bedroom renovation last month I had achieved all of my goals for that room. There was storage, there was a new desk area in the form of a cloffice, there was lots of fabric and color and it all made for a perfect not-too-girly space for my tomboy of a 10 year old. The one remaining problem was the bare wood floor. Although hardwood is great for some rooms, for a 10 year old girl a soft carpet to hang out on is key. The perfect rug had two criteria. My daughter wanted something soft and fuzzy, I was hoping to find something neutral to go with anything. Put those requirements together and you have a shag carpet!
When Mohawk Home offered a rug for me to review I jumped at the chanceMohawk Home, the rug division of Mohawk Industries, is the largest manufacturer of area rugs, indoor and outdoor rugs and washable rugs, all made in the United States.

I chose the Frise Shag rug in Starch. It is a gorgeous rug that brings the whole room together. The neutral color goes so well with the blue, gray and yellow color scheme already going on in the room. I wanted to new rug to fit in and not take over the design of the rest of the room. It does just that.
As far as my daughter’s criteria, it is soft and fuzzy. The shag is just the perfect length. Not too short that you see the carpet backing underneath and not too long, which can be difficult to keep clean. My favorite part is the denseness of the rug. I’ve seen and felt so many shag rugs where you can feel all the way through to the backing. Not soft and not fuzzy. The Frise Shag is dense and is such great quality.

Mohawk Home has generously offered one of No. 29 Design’s readers a rug of their own. Just visit here and select any 5 x 8 rug up to $150 in value. For the rules on entering see below…
